The player needs to know blackjack basic strategy as well as blackjack card values to be able to win. Blackjack is essentially a simple card game that is played with 52 cards. It is a game that is highly based on strategy. Even though luck is a factor, it only has an effect when it comes to cards that are dealt since the blackjack card values are the core of the game. The player tries to either score exactly 21 or as close as to 21 while also scoring higher than the dealer. If the player scores higher than 21, they lose.

At the start of the game, the player starts with 500 coins. They can place a bet using a chip from the chips valued 10, 20, 50 and 100. When you win a certain amount, that amount will be added to your coins.

The game starts with the dealer dealing two cards. These two cards are placed face-down on the table. The dealer also deals two cards to themselves. One of these cards is also placed face down which is also named the hole card.

The player has to look at their cards and determine the total value. The total value of their cards should not be over 21. Based on this information, the player will decide if they want more cards or not.

The card values:

Ace: 1 point or 11 points

Number cards: The value of the card

Face cards: 10 points

Blackjack: 1 Ace and a 10-point value card

If the player scores exactly 21 with two cards, it is called blackjack. If the player scores 21 before the dealer and other players, they also win the game. However, in general, the player tries to score as close to 21 as possible while also trying to score higher than the dealer. If they go over 21, they lose.

Blackjack basic strategy involves four main moves: hit, stand, split and double down. As you are playing and calculating the total value, you have to decide if you want to continue taking cards or not. “Hit” means you want to take another card. “Stand” means you want to stop taking cards.

If you get two cards with the same value, you can “split” the hand, and play with multiple hands.

“Double down” is a term used for doubling your bet. The player doubles down when the odds of them hitting a blackjack is high. For example, if the value of the player’s hand is 11, they can double down the bet because the odds of getting a 10-value card is pretty high.

Insurance is another term you should know. When the dealer has an ace card facing up, the player will be asked if they want insurance. If the player accepts the insurance, they can place a bet half of their original bet. If the dealer gets a 10-value card, the player’s insurance bet will be paid at two to one. However, the player will lose their original bet.
